Mr. Thomson's Biography

Mr. Thomson was born in Arlington Heights, IL and attended Rolling Meadows High School. After High School, he attended Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota receiving his BA in Communications. After graduating, he was on staff with Young Life for 3 years before he decided he really wanted to teach high school Applied Technologies.

After deciding to follow his heart into teaching, he chose to attend Northern Illinois University and perused his Masters in Secondary Education while emphasizing Applied Technologies. He finished his teaching certification in 1996 and began teaching at Prospect High School in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. Unfortunately that was a part time job, so he continued his career teaching for one year at Emerson Middle School in Park Ridge and then Elk Grove High School where he taught Architecture, Engineering, Woods, Electronics, and several other courses during his tenure. During his time there he also was on the baseball coaching staff working with the sophomores.

After four years at Elk Grove, he has been a Wildcat for over 20 years. Mr. Thomson also joined the baseball staff at Libertyville and coached on the staff for 14 years before retiring from coaching to watch his kids sports.

Mr. Thomson lives in Libertyville, Illinois with his wife Shirleen, son (Cabe) who is now a nurse in St. Louis, and daughter (Ella) who is studying Pre-Med at Mizzou.
