Vernon Hills High School is recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education and is a member of IACAC, NACAC and the College Board. Vernon Hills High School is a 2010 recipient of the U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon of Excellence Award. The school has received many honors including the School Search Bright A+ Award of Excellence, the School Match Annual School System, Newsweek’s “America’s Best High Schools,” and U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of the Best American High Schools. U. S. News & World Report also ranked VHHS in the top 100 STEM high schools in the nation. In addition, VHHS was named to The Washington Post’s top 30 Most Challenging High Schools in Illinois and was once again recognized in the College Board’s 9th Annual AP Honor Roll.

Community High School District 128 is ranked as the #1 best school district in Illinois as well as the #24 best U.S. school district. District 128 is also listed as the #3 best school district to work in. We are proud to share that Niche rated Vernon Hills High School as the #8 best Illinois High School and Vernon Hills High School was ranked as the #47 best U.S. high school. Recently, Vernon Hills High School received an ISBE School Report Card designation of Exemplary. This designation indicates that Vernon Hills High School is among the top 10% of all high schools in the state of Illinois.
