In case of a need to close school because of a weather-related event or other unforeseen reason, District 128 administrators will make the decision as soon as possible, with input from the sender district administrators and the bus company.
The District uses several systems for communicating closings to parents. Closing information can be found on line on the District’s web site, www.d128.org, and at www.cancellations.com and www.emergencyclosings.com. In addition, notice will be broadcast over radio stations WKRS (1220AM), WMAQ (670AM), WGN (720AM), B-96-FM, 94.7FM, and television stations FOX 32-TV, WGN-TV Channel 9, WMAQ Channel 5-TV, and CLTV-News.
The District also uses the ALERTNOW phone system to contact parents. In order to use the ALERTNOW system effectively, parents should inform their student’s LST of any telephone changes, including home, cell and emergency contact numbers.
